Training

What, when, where and how...

Monday Training 7pm - prompt & ready to warm up

Track, Stantonbury, Milton Keynes

We meet most Monday evenings at Stantonbury Stadium in Milton Keynes, ready to start warming up at 7pm. Training sessions vary and cater for ALL abilities. The purpose of these sessions is to concentrate on speed work, principally focusing on improving a runner's cadence, their lactic threshold and their body's ability to recover quickly. Training schedules for these sessions are not fixed but they have been set by qualified coaches.

Wednesday Training - 7pm - prompt!

Market Place, Olney

We meet every Wednesday evening in Olney's Market Place at 7pm. Training sessions vary but cater for all abilities. The sessions are run by qualified coaches/leaders. We are regularly on the hills but in between we will take in speed sessions, fartlek, pyramids and occasionally a 'hot lap' of Olney. We almost always end the sessions with a well-earned drink in the pub. See our training diary for more details.

Olney Runners' Starter Programme - Wednesday

Those new to running, recovering from injury or returning to running after a long lay off are welcome to join the Starter programme evening which is the last Wednesday evening of each month. This runs alongside the main Wednesday night training session. This will involve a 30 - 40 min run/walk session at a pace to suit just turn up at the Market Place Olney 7pm. If you are concerned about your health or have a medical condition, you should consult a doctor or medical professional before starting running.

Wednesday Night Club runs

Beginners and new starters are welcome to join the club runs on a Wednesday evening, however for your own health and safety you should be able to run approximately 4 miles in under 50 mins (11-12 minutes per mile) in order to stay with other runners.

Friday Circuits - 6:45 - 8pm

Winter Circuits started on Friday 1st Oct - Olney Gym. Summer Circuits will resume at Emberton Park in the early summer.

During the winter months we meet on a Friday at Olney Gym, on the Industrial Estate. The session generally lasts about an hour and a half, as we all muck in to help set and put away the equipment. It's a fantastic way to help improve core strength and stability and a great way to kick off the weekend! If you want to come along to this session, then you will need to confim there is space available. Please email Juliette Minter.

During the summer months we move the session to Emberton Park, where we make use of the facilities there and enjoy the great British sunshine...

Saturday Morning runs 9:30 (email updates will be sent out) (09:00am during the warmer summer months)

Market Place, Olney

Saturday morning is the usual slot for an LSD (Long Slow Distance), with varying distances covered depending on who turns up, who is training for what and who can be bothered to do what! This session really is about getting out and catching up on all the local news (aka gossip!) Look out for the emails.
